SOUTH SUDAN - HEALTHCARE COMMITMENT     

GOAL

Contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the South Sudanese population, displaced and host, by strengthening the health system for a more inclusive response for the most vulnerable categories (women, children, people with disabilities) and resilient to current emergencies (such as the epidemic of COVID19) and future.

Increase the access of the most vulnerable categories (women, children and people with disabilities) of the displaced and resident population to effective and quality health and nutritional services, both in emergency situations and in the long term.

BENEFICIARIES (TOTAL)

  • 62.670 pregnant women
  • 400.000 children under the age of 5 (192.000 are female)
  • 39.072 people with disability (23.445 are female)
  • 197 health staff and 8 local authority representatives will also be trained (62 women) and 168.500 persons (134.800 women) will be reached by messages of awareness.

OVCI'S MAIN ACTIVITIES 

  • Strengthening the activities of the maternal-infant department of the Usratuna Health Center and the Health Units of the city of Juba that refer to it (Mangateen, Way Station, Kimu, Sacred Heart), with particular attention to the health and nutritional status of pregnant women with disabilities who go to the aforementioned sites for the first visit and check-ups.
  • Retention / Motivation of local health personnel assigned to basic and emergency maternal and child health services and their Training / Supervision for the improvement of the quality of the services themselves, with particular attention to obstetric complications and disability: contribution to remuneration, organization of refresher and in-depth courses and seminars, technical assistance from professionals involved in clinical activity and in the capacity building process
  • Stimulation of the demand for health services in the maternal and child area through education and information activities in the communities and the development of incentive mechanisms for access to obstetric care by the most destitute and marginalized population
  • Identification and reference to the Usratuna Health Center of cases of epilepsy and severe disability in the Urban area of ​​Juba for their management and subsequent follow-up.
